Redevelopment in the Transit Zone
The area bordering French Park and including the Lacy neighborhood is the site of a major redevelopment effort by the City (alternately part of the "Renaissance Plan" (2008), the "Station District" (2009), and now the "Transit Zone" in 2010).

The City has submitted a draft Environmental Impact Report for public comment until April 14, 2010. This report is consequential to French Park and it specifically touches on goals of historic preservation in our area (see the revised Chapter 5, for example). Additional information and the most up-to-date documents are available at the City's Transit Zone website.

Historic Homes Moving to French Park in 2010
Two historic homes in the Lacy district will be saved from destruction, if the Santa Ana City Council follows through on its recent approval of the project. The homes will be moved to empty lots in the French Park neighborhood reserved for this purpose, and then rehabilitated. The city's Redevelopment Commission is in the final steps of approving the moves, which will proceed through 2010.
